El estilo indirecto nos permite explicar lo que otra persona dijo, preguntó o nos contó sin repetir sus palabras exactamente.
Enunciados
said (that) + oración
told + persona + (that) + oración
Direct: “I’m watching a new series,” Mia said.
Reported: Mia said (that) she was watching a new series.
With tell: Mia told me (that) she was watching a new series.
Cambios de tiempo frecuentes
- present simple → past simple
- present continuous → past continuous
- past simple → past perfect
- will → would
- can → could
Los pronombres y las expresiones de tiempo o lugar también pueden cambiar: today puede convertirse en that day, tomorrow en the next day y here en there.
Preguntas
En preguntas de sí o no, usa asked + if/whether + oración. Mantén el orden de una oración afirmativa.
Direct: “Do you like this programme?”
Reported: He asked if I liked the programme.
En las preguntas que empiezan con who, what, where, when, why o how, conserva la palabra interrogativa.
Direct: “Where are you going?”
Reported: She asked where I was going.
